I don’t usually add bakery products to this website because baking isn’t my forte. But I’m having so much fun baking recently. Especially scones! With a wide variety of scone flavours to make, your only limitation is your imagination! One scone flavour that has a ton of positive feedback is dark chocolate and strawberry. Taking a bite of it reminds me of the flavours of Nutella and strawberry jam. This is one of the few recipes I would make on a weekly basis if I could
Ingredients:
435g all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon sea salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ pound unsalted butter, diced into small cubes
1 egg
200mL buttermilk
100g frozen strawberries
50g dark chocolate
1 egg for egg wash
Ingredients:
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Shive the flour. In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder. Cut in the butter. After that, add one egg and buttermilk. Mix well until the scone mixture is just about coming together. You can tell by the traces of flour at the bottom of the bowl. Mix in the strawberries and chocolate.
On a baking tray with parchment paper, portion the scones using a 4-oz scoop or a medium triangle cookie cutter. If you’re using a scoop, shape the scones into triangles.
Brush all the scones using the egg wash. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is lightly brown. Cool for 10 minutes before serving
